David Mordecai Obituary, 71

PLYMOUTH — Memorial services will be held Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at the Tyson Church in Ludlow for David William Mordecai, who died comfortably on Aug. 11. A brief reception will follow at the Echo Lake Inn, Tyson Road, Ludlow. David was ushered along with compassionate care by Susan and William who were supported with the loving guidance of the 5th floor nursing team at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
David was born Dec. 29, 1941, son of the late Thomas Mordecai and Mary Cerveny Mordecai.
In his earliest days and into adulthood David enjoyed each moment on his family farm, Westbrook Farm, in Great River, N.Y. David attended the College of Emporia, Emporia, Kan.
It was at that time he married Patricia Kennedy, together they settled at a home in Saltaire, on Fire Island, N.Y., David was predeceased by Patricia and their son Matthew. In 1985 David married Susan Egbert, together they settled in Plymouth and raised their son, William.
While living in Vermont, David was the Rural Letter Carrier in Ludlow; for the most part he enjoyed being out in his Jeep delivering the mail.
David enjoyed many other things in life, the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, reading non-fiction, The N.Y. Post, working in his yard, travel adventures and sharing a meal with Susan and William. David was a man who was comfortable speaking his mind.

    Susan,

    It has been a lifetime. My wife and I ski in Vermont every year and I always think of you and Dave. I thought maybe, someday, I would run into you. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

    Once with a car full of kids in Ludlow I followed the mail carrier around for a mile or so thinking it was Dave. “He has a beard” I told Susan, “it might be him”. But, I was wrong.

    Anyway, please accept our condolences – Peace.
