Peter’s interests were focused on education, Pomfret and Vermont. He served as a Pomfret Town selectman, was concerned with environmental and historic preservation in Pomfret, and Vermont, and spent a great deal of time researching and working for improvements in state aid for education. He served on the boards of the National and State Consulting Engineers Council, as well as on a number of committees of the National Fire Protection Association, where he helped develop many of the building and fire codes that are still in use today. Peter enjoyed creativity and a good challenge. He built his own computer before modern PCs were available for purchase, and he developed many software programs he used in his business. He also loved to fly and had a private pilot’s license for many years.
