SOUTH ROYALTON — A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. in the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton for Verna M. Fletcher, 88, who died Aug. 24, at Johnson’s Care Home in Han-cock.
She was born Nov. 13, 1924 in Quechee, the daughter of George and Maude (Laundry) Becker.
She attended school in Quechee and the Hartford High School.
Verna married Raymond Fletcher on December 24, 1947. They had one son.
She worked at the local woolen mills until they closed. Verna then went to work at G. W. Plas-tic in Bethel, where she worked for over 11 years. Later she was employed as a machine operator at Timken Aerospace, (Split Ball Bearing) in Lebanon, NH until her retirement in 1987.
Mr. Fletcher died in 1984.
Verna lived with her sister in South Royalton for many years, before moving to Randolph and eventually back to South Roy-alton until her health failed and she moved to the Johnson’s Care Home where she has been for the past year.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Di-ane Fletcher of South Royalton; two granddaughters, Dyana and Crystal; two great granddaugh-ters, Eve and November; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; three brothers, Ray-mond, Gordon and George Becker; and one grandson, Frank David II.
