Woodstock Summer Fest, a community festival of food, drink, live music, street performers, kids activities, dancing, tastings and shopping, will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. in downtown Woodstock.
The Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the event sponsors are FH Gillingham and Sons, Long Trail Brewing Company, and TD Bank. Woodstock Summer Fest is a full day that includes Vermont specialty foods, cheeses, wine and beer tastings, music, entertainment, arts and crafts. There will be something for everyone: The Woodstock Rotary Club’s Spirit Garden, an adult only opportunity to purchase your favorite Vermont wine, spirits and craft brews; a 20-foot-high climbing wall brought to you by Green Mountain Climbing, children will enjoy the Kids Activity Tent with fun, games, drumming circle, and crafts throughout the day sponsored by Purple Crayon Productions. In addition for a second year Pentangle Arts Council Visual Art Committee’s Chalk it Up, a juried street art competition.
Entertainment starts at 10 a.m. The festival begins with the Upper Valley Favorites Carter Glass, followed by Sayon Camara with traditional Malinke African Drums, next up Local favorite Current Flash; followed by The Artistree Players; Next up on the main stage, Barbara and Tim, the dynamic duo that makes the center of all Sensible Shoes sounds, will rock the afternoon shopping with covers and material from their new CD. At 5 p.m. local musician Bryan Frates returns from gigs out west to provide music for early dining.
Finally to rock out the night, local sensation Joey Leone takes the stage at 7:30 p.m., and joining him at dusk, to close the evening, Mary Urban and Friends will perform fire spinning to the music. In addition to these fine bands that will play in the center of Woodstock, other artists performing on the street include circus art, sidewalk art, drumming and fiddlers.
