LEBANON, N.H. — A private family graveside service is planned for Barbara Grace Richardson Furman, who died Aug. 31, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center surrounded by family.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1922 in Quechee, daughter of Grace Perkins Richardson and Frank Richardson.
She attended school in Quechee and Andover, N.H., graduating from Andover High School.
She married Alden W. Furman of Ludlow on Dec. 22, 1941.
She was employed by Vermont Life of Montpelier, Readex Newsbank of Chester and the Orange-Windsor School District. She was active in the South Royalton Women’s Club and volunteered her time each year at the town meeting voter checklist. Barbara enjoyed her family, reading and her flower beds.
Mrs. Furman is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. Stender of West Hartford; two sons, Robert A. Furman of Chester and Richard W. Furman of Hartford; grandchildren, Caitlin Caserta of Walpole, N.H., Christopher Stender of West Hartford, Michael Stender of South Strafford, Abigail Ventura of Charlestown, N.H, and Dennis Furman of Hartford; great-grandchildren, Patrick Bettis of Hartford, San and Henry Caserta of Walpole, and Lucio and Julieta Ventura of Charlestown.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alden W. Furman in 1989.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Hone in Chelsea.
