Killington Man Injured In Route 4 Accident

A 61-year-old Killington man suffered neck and ankle injuries after he fell asleep and drove his Subaru Outback off Route 4 in Bridgewater Thursday afternoon.

Kenneth Austin was heading west when he drifted off Route 4 and into a cluster of rocks and trees near Rogers Road around 1:30 p.m. Austin told Vermont State Police Trooper Dan Martin that he was driving back from a hospital appointment at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and couldn’t stay awake.

Woodstock and Bridgewater emergency officials helped Austin out of his car and onto a stretcher. The severity of his injuries is unknown. Austin was taken to DHMC.
