A graveside service was held on Sept. 16 in the Prosper Cemetery on Prosper Road in Woodstock, for Mary Clough Johnstone, 93, who died peacefully on Sept. 11 at the Mertens House in Woodstock.
Mary was born on Feb. 28, 1920 in Woodstock, N.Y., the daughter of Francis G. and Elizabeth (Lasher) Clough.
Mary was a graduate of Middlebury College with a B.A. in American Literature.
She lived in Woodstock, N.Y., Middlebury, Montreal, Canada, and for many years in Woodstock.
She was a teacher at the Woodstock (VT) Elementary School and later she owned and operated Wood Shed Antiques with her husband Emerson.
Mary was an active and involved member of the community throughout her entire life.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy Senecal and her husband Paul of Cromwell, Conn., four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Emerson G. Johnstone and her son Jay Roger Johnstone.
