The Woodstock field hockey season came to an end Wednesday afternoon when it dropped a closely contested match (1-0) to three-time defending Division II champs Harwood in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday.

Woodstock outshot the Hilltoppers 14-8 and matched them in penalty corners (8-8) but a goal on a penalty corner play with just 13 minutes left in the game sealed the Wasps’ fate.

Freshman goalie Molly Henne had five saves.

“We played a great game… great play from our co-captain senior leaders Liz Lamb and Taylor Smith, and great midfield effort from freshman Mariah Luce,” coach Hannah Nichols said.

Madi Schultz, Erika Gebhardt and Paitra Martin were standouts on defense according to Nichols.
