Shutdown Casualty: Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park Closed

October 1, 2013

in News

A key fall tourist destination is closed until further notice — one of many results of the federal government shutdown Tuesday.

All carriage roads and trails, tours, school trips and the visitors center at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park closed after Congress couldn’t agree on a spending bill for the government.

Entrances to the park were chained up and signs were posted that said “Because of the federal government shutdown, this National Park Service facility is closed.”

The Billings Farm and Museum, which is not affiliated with the national park service, is open.

Amazing to me that they had to shut down the trails (which did JUST FINE before they became part of a national park. Just furthers the stupidity that is our government.
