Acclaimed as the world’s largest travel site, Trip Advisor announced this week the top 10 destinations to view fall foliage. Woodstock was named the top spot in New England based on the reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers. Stowe, Waitsfield and Manchester were other Vermont locations chosen by travelers.
A drive from Woodstock over Rts. 4 and 100, then up over Brandon Gap to Brandon this week confirms the spectacular foliage nearing peak color in central Vermont. As the poet Robert Frost suggests “taking the road less traveled,.” Route 73 from Rochester to Brandon was just that affording the opportunity to linger and enjoy the beauty of the vivid fall scene. Admiring the views, long-time Woodstock resident Harvey Watson said. “In all my years, I’ve not seen any better color than this season.”
Rutland County Forester Chris Stone said,”I am seeing excellent color on the spine of the greens down by Bromley Mountain in Bennington County. “It’s starting to pop, red maples are coming out and the sugar maples are really moving into orange.”
With gorgeous days and unparalleled color, every Vermont resident owes it to himself/herself to take a drive through their surroundings this week. Mother Nature has painted a mosaic for all to enjoy.
