QUECHEE – A Memorial service and Life Celebration will be held Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, White River Junction for Ruth M. Heath, 88, who died unexpectedly Nov. 8 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Quechee Club at 3268 Quechee Main St. in Quechee.
She was born April 6, 1925 in Kitchener, Ontario, a daughter of John and Eva (Knarr) Davenport.
She grew up and graduated from high school in Kitchener before beginning work at Mutual Life Assurance Company in Waterloo, Ontario. While working there she met Blake Heath and two years later they were married on October 8, 1949.
As Blake’s career took them to different cities around Ontario, together they moved to Windsor, Scarborough and London as their family grew to include four daughters. In 1970 the family settled in Franklin, Mass. where Ruth and Blake lived until retiring in Quechee in 1989.
Ruth lived an active and healthy life and enjoyed cooking, swimming and spending time with her family and friends. In Quechee, Ruth was involved in the sewing and knitting club, the gardening club and had a special fondness for the Upper Valley Haven. She was also a member of the Quechee Club and attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in White River Jct.
She was survived by her husband of 64 years, Blake, of Quechee; daughters, Leslee Wlodyka and her husband Jack of West Lawn, Penn., Tish Heath and her partner Nancy Tucker of Lansing, Mich. and Erin Munroe and her husband Bob of Shrewsbury, Mass.; grandchildren Bob and Molly Munroe and Bree Crossley; as well as three great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother John Davenport and his wife Helen of Wellesley, Ontario, a sister-in-law June Davenport of St. Jacobs, Ontario; and six nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by a daughter, Lenore Murphy; a granddaughter, Brynn Wlodyka; and a brother Arthur Davenport.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brynn Lee Feather Fund, c/o Berks County Community Foundation, 237 Court St., Reading, Penn. 19601 (or) The Upper Valley Haven, 713 Hartford Ave, White River Jct, 05001.
