It’s official: Woodstock is the Division III champion.

A five-member Vermont Principals Association committee denied Mill River’s appeal over a controversial call during Woodstock’s 20-19 overtime win against the Minutemen Saturday.

The decision was confirmed by VPA Executive Director Bob Johnson Thursday at 4:35 p.m.

Mill River coach Art Peterson filed a protest Sunday morning, contending that Wasps running back Tom Baumann fumbled the ball through the end zone and out-of-bounds on third-and-goal in overtime. Officials at the game ruled Baumann down at the 1-yard line and Woodstock scored on the next play and kicked the extra point for the win.

Johnson denied the protest Monday, only to have Mill River appeal the decision.
