STRAFFORD — A celebration of Life and Potluck will be held at Barrett Hall in South Strafford on Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. for William Fred Guyer, 58, who died Nov. 19 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born May 7, 1955 in Hanover, N.H. a son of Albert and Lois Ann (Cook) Guyer.
Bill spent his early years on the Cook farm in Norwich before moving to Lyme Center with his parents Lois and Wilbur Hutchins. He began working at Huggett’s Mobil in East Thetford in his sophomore year of Thetford Academy Class of 1973. He continued to work for Huggett’s until opening his own garage, Bill’s Auto Repair, near his home on Old City Falls Road in Strafford. On June 28, 1980 he married Paula (Paige) Guyer, they later divorced in 2013. In 1998 his shop burnt and he took a job with Dartmouth Printing, where he worked until 2012.
Bill loved to tinker, especially on antique cars. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing particularly at the Canaan Speedway and Bear Ridge in Bradford. He was also a lifetime member of the Strafford Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and was a member of Lyme, N.H., Strafford, and West Fairlee clubs.
Bill is survived by his mother, Lois Hutchins of Lyme Center, N.H.; a daughter Erin Guyer of South Royalton; a son Nathaniel Guyer of Strafford; his grandchildren, Joseph and Dakota Guyer; his ex-wife Paula Guyer of Thetford Center; a brother, Donald Hutchins of Lyme Center, N.H.; two sisters, Mary Hutchins Hill of Plymouth, N.H. and Kerene Schwartz of Enfield, N.H.; a half-sister, Trilby Cunningham of Carson City, Nev., as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by Albert Guyer in 1994 and Wilbur Hutchins in 2011.
