Woodstock Highway Department Prepares For Storm

The Woodstock Highway Department is preparing for a wintery storm tonight.

The Weather Channel predicts Windsor County will see heavy wet snow accumulations of 1-4 inches. It will mix with sleet, freezing rain and then rain overnight. There could but up to one third of an inch of ice by Wednesday morning.

Woodstock Highway Department Superintendent Ken Vandenburgh said he’s preparing for ice or snow.

“It’s a very difficult call as to when to do it,” he said. “You don’t want to do it frivolously and you don’t want to neglect the roads.”

There are eight people on the road crew and, if necessary, all will be salting and sanding tonight.
