You Make The Call: Play Protested

Mill River is protesting this play from Saturday’s Division III state championship game where Woodstock beat Mill River, 20-19 in overtime.

Here, Woodstock’s Tom Baumann is carrying the ball, when he appears to fumble. Officials met and called Baumann down at the 1-yard line. The Wasps scored on the next play, then kicked the game-winning extra point.

Minutemen coach Art Peterson and Mill River Principal Andy Pomeroy filed the protest Sunday morning. Peterson hopes to have the call ruled as a fumble that crossed the end zone line before going out-of-bounds. The reversal would give the Minutemen the title. (See the story here.)
