Second and third graders at the Pomfret School are currently sponsoring a campaign to benefit the local Woodstock Area Food Shelf.

For the annual “Heartfelt Help for the Hungry” campaign, students have prepared boxes, a large thermometer to show the daily intake of donations and a heart filled with valentines.

The school’s goal is to reach 500 items by Valentine’s Day. Most needed food items include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, tuna fish, cooking oil, pasta sauces, cereals and canned fruit.
