WUHS Boys Snowboarding Team Wins Event

The Woodstock boys snowboarding team finished first at the Jan. 23 Okemo half-pipe competition. The Wasps girls team finished in fourth place. The boys team’s first-place finish, nosing out Black River by one point, followed a first-place finish in the Okemo slopestyle event.

The boys team was led by senior Will Stellar, who finished fourth. Justin Peyton came in seventh, Evan Bloch and Matt Poljacik tied for 12th and Alex Sheppard finished 27th.

The girls were competing in their first-every pipe competition and were led by Nikki Sardelli in sixth, McKenzie Dalton in 12th, Sawyer Cawley-Edwards in 13th and Cailin Saggesi in 17th. The girls pipe was won by Black River, followed by BFA, Leyland and Grey, Woodstock and Rutland.

Woodstock’s next competitions are the Monday slopestyle at Mt. Snow and the Thursday GS at Stowe.
