MILFORD, N.H. — There will be no funeral service at this time for Neal Shute, age 87, of Milford, N.H., who died unexpectedly at home on Feb. 1. Burial with a private family service will take place in the spring at the cemetery in Wilton, N.H. where his wife and other family members are buried.
He was born in Hartland on April 2, 1926, the son of Neale and Grace (Murphy) Shute.
Neal grew up on the family farm in Hartland, then left to join the Army. After he got out of the service he married Norma (Doane), who was then living in Hartland. Norma brought two children to their marriage: Doreen and Ben McLaughlin. The family moved to Milford, N.H. where Neal worked as a carpenter mostly self-employed building houses.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Doreen Johnson, his two step-grandchildren, his sister, Anne (Shute) Alfonso, his brother, Robert Shute, and several nieces and nephews.
Neal was predeceased by his wife, Norma, who died six years ago in March; his stepson, Ben McLaughlin; his sister, Thelma (Shute) Stearns; and his brother, Clifton Shute.
Smith & Heald Funeral Home in Milford is in charge of arrangements.
