Due to strong winds and heavy snow, the state department of public safety is discouraging travel on Vermont roads Friday morning.

A winter storm warning is still in effect for the Woodstock area until 1 p.m. with the heaviest snow falling until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The forecast is for gusts up to 30 mph, which could cause drifting snow.

Schools in the Woodstock area are closed today.
