BARNARD — The owners of the house that burned down in The Grove near Silver Lake two weeks ago plan to rebuild and they need your help.

Two funds — GoFundMe.com and the Trevor account at Lake Sunapee Bank — are accepting donations. As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe.com account had raised $2,925. The goal of the site is to raise $15,000 for the family.

Dagney Trevor and David Harshbarger lost their home in the fire March 15 while they were on vacation in Florida.

Harshbarger, a carpenter, and Trevor, a retired nurse, built on to the property bit by bit over the past 30 years. Their home was their ongoing project.

The couple also lost their three cats and all of their belongings.

Trevor and Harshbarger are currently in Florida and plan to remain there for the time being, according to Trevor’s daughter Careen Little.

Little said the property is going to be clear of the charred structure by Wednesday.

The owners had insurance and the hope, as of now, is to rebuild. Potential donors can contact Careen Little at careen@sover.net.

“There have been a lot of emotions around the whole event but I believe the incredible support of our community has made it pretty clear the best place to be is here,” Little said in an email.
