Woodstock Boys Basketball Advances To Barre

For the first time in more than a decade, the Woodstock boys basketball team is headed to the state tournament.

The Wasps beat Mount St. Joseph 60-35 on Saturday to advance to the semifinals at Barre Auditorium Wednesday. It’s Woodstock’s first trip to Barre since 2003.

Woodstock (16-6) will face No. 2-seeded Lyndon Institute on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Lyndon (17-5) beat Bellows Falls 71-44 on Friday.

The two teams have not faced each other this year.

The Wasps haven’t been to a state championship game since 2002, when it lost to Fair Haven, 45-39.

Woodstock has won four state championships (1964,’65,’98,’99).
