Staff Report

WEST WINDSOR-Four fire departments responded to the scene of a structure fire on Brownsville-Hartland Road Saturday around 6 p.m.

The fire started in the utility room on the first floor of the two-story home belonging to Leah Abrahamsen.

Abrahamsen lives in the house with her daughter, 15, and son, 10. She was home when the fire started.

Windsor, West Windsor, Ascutney and Hartland fire departments responded to the scene, attacking the fire interiorly and exteriorly by tearing apart the roof on the back side of the building. The exact cause of the fire is unknown.

West Windsor Fire Chief Mike Spackman estimated the cost of the damage was $50,000 due to the internal smoke damage.

Abrahamsen had been in contact with neighbors and friends about finding a place to stay. The American Red Cross was also going to assist.

“She’ll be out of the house for a while,” Spackman said.
