POMFRET-After multiple resignations and change-ups in town government this past year, Pomfret elected a new Selectboard member Wednesday night.

Phil Dechert was elected to the Selectboard in a 45-42 vote at a special Town Meeting.

Dechert, who was appointed to the board last month after Neil Lamson resigned, defeated resident Doug Tuthill by a slight margin.

Dechert is the planning and zoning director in Norwich. He will serve on the Selectboard until 2016.
