Committal for Frederic Jenks – A memorial service will be held May 17 at 2 p.m. at the Brownsville Community Church, 66 Brownsville-Hartland Road, Brownsville, for Fred A. Jenks, who died April 1. All those who knew Fred are invited to attend this service celebrating his life.


House Fire In Browsville
Four fire departments responded to the scene of a structure fire on Brownsville-Hartland Road Saturday around 6 p.m. The fire started in the utility room on the first floor of the two-story home belonging to Leah Abrahamsen.

GMHA Events Mud Ride and Mix and Match Dressage and Jumping
Green Mountain Horse Association held two events over the weekend. A Mix and Match event for dressage and jumping and the Mud Ride held on back roads.

Bridgewater Raft Race
Bridgewater held its annual raft race where contestant used recycled materials to construct their rafts. Saturday although rainy, brought out spectator and contestants to the rivers edge.

NWPL Gala Event
The 2014 Gala Fundraiser held on Sunday, April 27 featured guest speaker Andre Dubus III, well known author of many books including NYT bestseller “House of Sand and Fog” and his latest “Dirty Love”. A reception was held at the Norman Williams Library followed by dinner at the Woodstock Inn.

Raw Shakespeare Co. Practice In The Park
A collection of Shakespeare enthusiasts have become an organized group scheduled to perform at the end of June. Some of the performers practiced their sword fighting on the Green in Woodstock.

Boys Lacrosse Middlebury Rematch
In a rematch of the first game of the season for Woodstock, the Wasps took on Middlebury playing much better than their initial 17-5 loss ending the game in down 6-2 on Tuesday.

WUHS Baseball vs Green Mountain
Woodstock boys baseball continued their winning streak taking on Green Mountain with a walk-off 7-6 win.

WUHS Girls Lacrosse vs Mt. Anthony
Woodstock Union High School girls lacrosse team played their first game this season against Mt. Anthony a Div.I team. The Wasps (Div. III) lost 13-9.
