Police: Two Found In Possession Of Heroin

Two local residents were found to be in possession of heroin during a traffic stop Wednesday morning, according to Vermont State Police.

Zachary Riley, 25, of Hartford was found to be under the influence of heroin while operating a blue Toyota Camry on Interstate 91 in Rockingham, police said. Riley was also found to be in a possession of a felony amount of the drug.

Police stopped the car for a motor vehicle violation around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

About 30 bags of heroin were recovered after police searched the passenger — Julie Dexter, 23, of Windsor.

Dexter was held at the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $500 bail. Both Riley and Dexter were issued a citation to appear in Windham County superior Criminal Court. Riley was also issued a written warning for the motor vehicle violation and then he was released.
