Staff report

For the second time in five days, someone broke into the Woodstock Recreation Center, according to the Woodstock Police Department.

In both cases, locks on windows surrounding the center’s main office were broken and a similar amount of cash was taken, according to Gail Devine, the center’s executive director.

“It’s very frustrating and disappointing that’s thats happening here,” said Devine.

Devine has been at the center for 12 years. She couldn’t recall a burglary prior to this week’s incidents.

“(We’re) taking steps to catch them and prevent further loss,” said Woodstock officer Kevin Wilson.

There was also an attempted burglary at the Faulkner Mansion last weekend, but that seemed to be an unrelated incident, according to Police Chief Robbie Blish.

Those with information on the center burglaries can call Officer Kevin Wilson at 457-7506.
