The Mike Bono Trio will perform at the Norman Williams Public Library on Monday, June 2nd, at 7pm; featuring guitarist Mike Bono, with Jimmy Macbride on the drums, and Josh Crumbly on bass. The three met two summers ago, after graduating from Julliard and Berklee, while teaching as part of the Stanford Jazz Workshop’s Mentor Fellowship program.
Jimmy has played with artists from Herbie Hancock, Terrence Blanchard, Dayna Stephens, and Taylor Eigsti amongst many others. Josh is currently the bass player in the Terrence Blanchard Quintet, and has played with artists such as Aaron Parks, Kendrick Scott, Dayna Stephens and many more. Mike released his debut album last year which included 12 original compositions, and a guest appearance by guitarist Julian Lage.
The Mike Bono group has performed at the Nancy Jazz Festival in France, the Discover Jazz Festival in Vermont, and has appeared regularly at numerous Jazz venues throughout New York and Boston, including Birdland this past February, featuring Chris Cheek on saxophone.
The Woodstock High School and Middle School Jazz Ensembles will share the performance at Music at the Mezz with the guest trio, providing opening sets featuring their hard work from throughout the year. The following day the students will get to work closely with the Mike Bono Trio in the school setting.
