LUDLOW — A graveside service with military honors was held July 7 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Ludlow for Joseph Hugh Maynard, Sr., 81, who passed away June 28 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Rev. Father Romanus Igweonu, Pastor of the Church of the Annunciation, Ludlow, officiated.
He was born in Ludlow on Feb. 28, 1933, son of Charles and Dorothy (Fish) Maynard.
Mr. Maynard was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army and Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36, Ludlow and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 771 in Springfield.
Joseph had worked for 30 years as a machinist at General Electric in Ludlow and Rutland.
He is survived by his son Joseph Maynard, Jr. of Cornish Flat, New Hampshire, his daughter Vicki Polidor of North Dakota. Joe is also survived by his longtime companion, Helen R. Kennett of Perkinsville, and her children; Donald and Vicki Hood of Claremont, New Hampshire, Ronald Kennett and Linda Johnston of Hartland, Michael and Tamra Howe of Windsor, and their children; four grandchildren, Raquel, Brittany, Bethany, and Alexandria; and three great-grandchildren, Molly, Rory, and Deagan.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Shirley (Moot) Maynard.

Arrangements were under the care of Adams Funeral Home, Ludlow.
