BARNARD – A memorial service was held on July 19 at St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock for Rev. Canon Donald E. Boyer, 80, who died at his home on July 15, of natural causes, with his wife Marcia at his side.
He was born on March 6, 1934 in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of Ernest and Willamina (Clarke) Boyer.
He was a graduate of Westboro High School, received his BA from Sewanee and his bachelor of Theology from Berkley Divinity at Yale.
In 1958 he served as 3rd cerate at St. Paul’s Church in Burlington, as Chaplain at St Anselm Chapel, University of Vermont, was Canon to the Ordinary and became Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul and in 1983 became rector of St. James Church in Woodstock where he served until 1999.
He is survived by his wife Marcia; four children; Elizabeth, Grace, John, and Donald; a brother Norman, his former wife Linda; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his family he loved books, music, and his cats. He longed for the glorious return of the British Empire.

The family would like to ex-press their appreciation to Gail, Julie, Debra, Claude, Sherri, and Amy for their care of Donald during his last days.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
