Gov. Peter Shumlin holds a 12-point lead over Republican challenger Scott Milne, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday.
In a survey of 700 voters conducted Aug. 28-29, 36 percent said they’d vote for Milne, while 48 percent favored the two-term incumbent.
In 2012, Shumlin earned 58 percent of the vote, defeating Randy Brock, who received 37.7 percent.
Milne won the Republican primary Tuesday receiving more than 70 percent of the vote.
