Keegan Bradley shot a 6-under par 65 to take the early first-round lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Friday.
The Woodstock native had six birdies and 12 pars on the TPC Boston course.
Bradley is trying to make a good impression on U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson, who said he’ll announce his three captain’s picks on Sept. 2 — the day after the Deutsche Bank Championship concludes Monday.
Bradley finished 13th in the Ryder Cup standings this year — four spots out of automatically qualifying. He made an impact in the 2012 Ryder Cup, going 3-1 in his matches.
“I really want to be on that team,” said Bradley at his charity golf tournament in Woodstock on Monday. “It’s a tough time to kind of sit and wait. I’ve got one more event and if I do well I’ll be on the team. That’s what I’ve got to go do.”
