WINDSOR — A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at the Ascutney Union Church in Ascutney for Beth K. Bissonnette, 94, a former resident of Ascutney, who passed away from Alzheimer’s, Sunday morning, Oct. 30, 2016, at the Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor. Rev. A reception for family and friends will follow at Martin Memorial Hall. Committal services will be held at a later date in the Lower Cabot Cemetery in Cabot at the convenience of her family.
She was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Brookfield, the daughter of Lewis and Ruth F. (Angell) Hayward. She received her schooling in Williamstown and Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School.
She married Herbert A. Kidder Feb. 13, 1943. He passed in 1965. She later married Laurier W. Bissonnette on Sept. 27, 1970.
Beth retired after 30 years from Joy Manufacturing Company in Claremont where she held several administrative positions.
Beth was an active member of the Ascutney Union Church in Ascutney for over 50 years, she served on many committees including as a Deaconess, Director of the Music Committee and, Junior Choir, and as organist for many years. She worked on church suppers, sang in the choir, worked on several fund raising initiatives, and played the piano for services and assisted with services at Cedar Hill Health Care Center.
She served the Town of Weathersfield as Lister and Auditor. She was also an active member of the Ascutney Village Elementary School PTA.
Beth was an avid hand quilter, winning several awards for her creations. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her nieces, and friends at her home and Rocky Bound Pond in Croydon, New Hampshire.
She was predeceased by her parents and both husbands, two sons, William Kidder and David Kidder, a stepson, Richard A. Bissonnette; and by three brothers, Alvin “Bug” Hayward, Weldon Hayward and Harold “Hap” Hayward, and two sisters, Lois Gilman and Merle Houghton.
Survivors include one son, Robert Kidder and his wife, Linda of Ascutney and Winter Haven, Florida; daughter, Linda Tisdale and her husband, Paul of Las Vegas, Nevada and Claremont, New Hampshire; a step-daughter, Janice E. Heighes and her husband William of Claremont, New Hampshire; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ascutney Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 91, Ascutney, VT 05030 or to the Vermont Alzheimer’s Association at 300 Cornerstone Drive, Williston, VT 05495.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
