WHITE RIVER JUNCTION – A North Pomfret woman is facing multiple charges following an alleged incident in Hartford on Saturday.
Stephanie Hewitt, 32, of North Pomfret was lodged at the Springfield jail for lack of $5,000 bail following her arrest mid-afternoon Saturday, according to Hartford Police. Police said she is scheduled to be arraigned this week on charges related to the incident.
In a press release, Hartford Police said that mid-afternoon on Saturday they observed Hewitt in a vehicle “in the process of attempting to conduct a drug sale.” Police said that when an officer approached Hewitt, she fled on foot into a nearby residence, “leaving her three small children behind in the vehicle,” according to the release. Hewitt was eventually placed under arrest. Police reported finding 3.5 grams of crack cocaine in her possession.
The children were turned over to a family member, according to police.
