Update: Police Probe Crash at Rte. 4 Intersection

(Update, 11.9.17, 10:30 a.m.) :

According to State Police: During the investigation of the crash, Craig Arnesen, 69, of Quechee, the operator of the Honda Sedan, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. Arnesen was transported to DHMC for precautionary measures and processed for suspicion of DUI.

Hartford PD also responded and assisted with traffic control, police said.

The accident occurred at about 8:56 p.m.

HARTLAND – Traffic was halted for an hour in Route 4 Wednesday evening in Taftsville, following a crash just over the Hartland line at the intersection with Route 12. In the incident, a car with Vermont plates collided with an 18-wheel tanker hauling spring water.

The cause of the crash is unconfirmed at this time. The driver of the car was able to get himself out of the vehicle but was eventually transported to a hospital by a Woodstock Ambulance crew to be checked over.

Hartland volunteer firefighters and FAST squad members also responded to the scene, along with the Vermont State Police and the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.

The State Police are investigating the accident.
