Line crews have restored power to homes along Rte. 4 in West Woodstock and throughout the area, after a giant tree took down power lines across this major state highway just past the Woodstock Rec Center, during the biggest snow storm of the year.
Woodstock Police said the tree fell across the lines at about 8 a.m. At about 9:25 a.m., traffic remained stopped both ways along Route 4 from the Rec Center Bridge to just past Woodstock Farmers’ Market. Eastbound traffic from West Woodstock along Route 4 was being detoured over Mill Road and over to College Hill to reach the village.
As of 9:50 a.m., Green Mountain Power was reporting 865 Woodstock customers without power. By early afternoon, power had been fully restored in Woodstock.
