Vermont’s oldest weekly hits the stands days after blaze

Despite the fire that hit Central Street on Monday, the Standard persevered and put out a paper while being based out of the Norman Williams Public Library, with the new edition hitting the stands today, Friday, July 20.

  1. I am so sorry to learn of the fire and what happened to the Standard but so glad all is well. Several months before starting classes in August 1974 at the Doscher Country School of Photography in South Woodstock, I took a subscription to your newspaper. The Standard introduced me to your beautiful state and warm people and let this Texan know where I’d be living for the next eight months. Your library was one of my favorite places in Woodstock because it fed my appreciation of Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley.
